To a large extent, competition among companies is competition for talents, while core employees determine a company’s core competitiveness and act as a source of sustainable competitive advantages. In light of this, managers should pay high attention to and delve into the solution to such problems as how to attract and retain great employees to develop them into the backbone of the company, and how to increase core employees’ loyalty to unlock their full potential with the aim of significantly improving the performance. Therefore,in the practice of management, tapping into the hidden potential of talents to achieve sustainable development requires flexibly applying the incentive theory, creating sound incentive mechanism and using effective incentive methods.Based on Herzberg’s two-factor theory, the paper investigates the status of incentive for and management of core employees at MG by using various research methods including literature review, questionnaires and interviews. After data are collected through questionnaires, some core employees are interviewed according to the statistics, and then conclusions are drawn based on survey data and interview records, followed by analysis of core employees’ demands and suggestions. It is found that core employees have low levels of satisfaction with compensation incentive, performance management, corporate culture, employee training and career development.Considering these, starting with Motivator-Hygiene Theory, measures for optimizing incentive mechanism for core employees at MG are developed. Finally, the paper explores supporting measures for implementing the new incentive plans, providing methods and ideas for improving the current core employee incentive schemes at MG.
