On The Study Of Liu Xianxin’s Ming History

Liu Xianxin was a scholar in Shu area during the period of the Republic of China,and he was an unavoidable figure in the study of modern Chinese ideological and cultural history.He has written a lot in his whole life.He has studied philosophy,history,literature,bibliography,religion and calligraphy,etc.He is an outstanding historian in modern Chinese history.Because Liu Xianxin never left Sichuan in his whole life,had little contact with the outside world,and died young,compared with other famous scholars in the period of the Republic of China(the same era),we don’t know much about him.His academic thought is marked by his great work push ten books.There are 231 kinds and 475 volumes,which are of great value.Liu Xianxin has a wide range of research on ancient Chinese history,especially his works on local chronicles and collation,as well as western studies.In recent years,scholars have studied Liu Xianxin and his works from the perspectives of history,philosophy,literature,historical philology and so on.Liu Xianxin has made great achievements in the research of historical theory,Song History,Shu studies and other local history fields.However,Liu Xianxin’s systematic research on the history of a certain period of time shows little academic contribution and new ideas.Liu Xianxin’s "push ten books" involves many problems,such as politics,social customs,Neo Confucianism,literature sorting and so on in the Ming Dynasty.In this paper,Liu Xianxin’s research on Ming history is the topic of this paper.The contents of pushing ten books concerning Ming history are sorted out and analyzed.The main contents and characteristics of Liu Xianxin’s research on Ming history are analyzed and summarized from three aspects:Politics and society of Ming Dynasty,agency studies of Ming Dynasty,and literature collation of Ming Dynasty.The comparison between Liu Xianxin’s research on Ming history and that of the 20th century is made to further explore the study of Liu Xianxin’s research on Ming history Technical contribution and status of academic history.Liu Xianxin paid special attention to historical knowledge and meaning,and had strong problem consciousness and unique academic vision.Liu Xianxin’s study of Ming history focuses on the study of Ming Dynasty’s agent theory and the study of Ming Dynasty’s social customs.Compared with the scholars of the same era,his study of Ming history has a unique perspective and academic foresight on the issues of Ming Dynasty arts,the three styles of the late Ming Dynasty and LV Xinwu’s thoughts.Liu Xianxin’s research on the history of Ming Dynasty and his historical thoughts have certain guiding significance for the study of the current history of Ming Dynasty.At the same time,Liu Xianxin,as a marginal scholar in the period of the Republic of China,has always adhered to the traditional culture under the background of cultural conflict and integration between China and the West.This study provides a clear case study for the study of modern ideological and cultural studies,which is of great significance for us to learn how to deal with traditional culture and establish cultural self-confidence.
