An E-C Translation Report On The Jekyll And Hyde Syndrome (Excerpt) Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

With the development of human society,overstressed people are bothered by mental problems.Among them,the Jekyll and Hyde syndrome is the most serious,bothering people’s daily life.The psychology text translation on the Jekyll and Hyde syndrome hasn’t been explored yet in China.Accordingly,the translator makes English-Chinese translation of the chapter 1 excerpted from the Jekyll and Hyde Syndrome under the guidance of Skopos Theory.The translator hopes that the translation can provide some suggestions for those suffering from the Jekyll and Hyde Syndrome and take measures to cure it.Besides,the translator hopes to improve translation skills in psychology text.The report is composed of four chapters: chapter one is introduction of translation task,revealing the background and significance of the translation task.Chapter two is the description of translation process,covering the pre-translation,translation and post-translation.Chapter three is three translation strategies analysis.Chapter three not only gives a brief introduction of Skopos Theory,but also includes case analysis,applying three rules of Skopos theory to the text translation.Under the guidance of the Skopos rule,amplification and liberal translation are applied.Guided by the coherence rule,inversion and division are applied.Also,under the guidance of the fidelity rule,literal translation and annotation are adopted.Chapter four is the summary of translation report.The author offers some translation suggestion and provides some references for future scholars exploring the Jekyll and Hyde Syndrome translation.
