Announcement Of Metropolitan City Suspension And Transformation Of Traditional Media

Since the first publication of the West China Metropolis Daily in 1995,it has gone through more than 20 years.In recent years,with the strong rise of the mobile Internet,the Metropolis Daily has entered the declining fast lane,and has been forced to suspend publication.This article uses the theory and methods of Faircluff’s critical discourse analysis to conduct discourse analysis on 71 dismissal declaration published by 60 metropolitan daily.At the text level,this article mainly starts from the vocabulary,grammar and structure,researches what is emphasized in the text of the Metropolis Daily’s.The study found that the declaration is mainly composed of two parts: a lyric structure and a notice structure.The title is habitually using collective vocabulary,emphasizing the qualitative nature of the "suspended publication".Through the four metaphors of youth,war,time,and love,the declaration presents a complete picture of the change of paper media from prosperity to decline.In addition,the declaration also invokes high-intimacy,positive politeness,and parallelism to justify the closing behavior.At the level of discourse practice,clear intertextuality has become the main strategy for constructing social reality.By presupposing responsible reporters,high-quality reports,always-following readers,and quoting poems against paper media meanings,requisitioning slogans reaffirms ideals and beliefs,reciting political discourses maintain authority,the declaration defends the journalistic professionalism paradigm.At the same time,the manifesto uses farewell discourse,transformation discourse,and advertising discourse to create the meaning system of the media “taking social responsibility and actively integrating transformation”.Common news ideology shapes common news values and news practices.The study found that Metropolis Daily is highly consistent in social practice.It declares legal performance through its brilliant achievements in the "Golden Age" and the transition period.The purpose is to make the current choice of suspending seem reasonable.The declaration regards the online media as the main cause of newspaper failure,but selectively ignores its own management factors,and portrays newspapers as victims of growing institutional instability.The reasons may be affected by three forces:management mechanism,market orientation,and discourse demonstration.
