| People’s conscious behavior is accomplished under the guidance of the purpose,language is no exception.In the daily communication of human beings,there are often confrontations due to different purposes,interests and wills.This kind of contradictory relationship between people is manifested in language,which forms the so-called conflict talks.All Is Well is a teleplay that mainly reflects the conflict of interpersonal purpose,which contains multiple conflicting talks.This paper based on the goal-direction principle,transfer analysis of conflicting words,discusses the relationship in the purpose of containing,and for the quantitative analysis of the cause and response strategy,at the same time to make a summary of all kinds of strategies of language performance characteristics,in order to reveal the purpose conflict hidden behind the discourse conflict between communicators and broaden the research perspective of the “the goal-direction principle” and the conflict discourse.The introduction briefly introduces the reasons,significance and value of the topic selection,the research summary of conflicting talks,the research status of the teleplay All Is Well,and the research methods and corpus sources of the paper.The first chapter mainly introduces the theoretical framework of the thesis,first introduces“the goal-direction principle” in pragmatics through the description of “teleology” in philosophy,and then discusses the relationship between “the goal-direction principle”and “conflict talk” by connecting them.The second chapter mainly introduces the characteristics of conflict talks in the teleplay All Is Well,analyzes its structure,and explains and defines the three stages of conflict talks: the beginning,the development and the end.The third chapter is the key chapter of the thesis,which mainly focuses on the pragmatic “the goal-direction principle” and conducts quantitative and qualitative analysis of the corpus.Firstly,the purpose and interaction of conflicting talks in All IsWell is explained.Secondly,the language strategies in conflict talks are divided into eliciting strategies and responding strategies.There are four types of trigger strategies,namely,stance,instruction,inquiry and elaboration.The response strategy can be divided into two categories: conflict intensification response and conflict mitigation response,and then subcategories.At the same time,the frequency of various strategies is summarized and the statistical results are analyzed.In addition,in the process of discussing the trigger strategy and response strategy respectively,the linguistic characteristics of the two strategies are analyzed and discussed respectively from the perspectives of sentence choice,emotional color and pragmatic orientation.The last part is the conclusion of the paper,which summarizes the main findings of this study and the shortcomings of the paper,and puts forward the prospect of future research. |
