A Report On The Translation Practice Of ASEAN Scientific And Technological Organization From The Perspective Of Equivalence Translation

This is a translation practice report based on the trans-editing experience about scientific and technological organization in ASEAN countries of the author.Under concept of the Belt and Road Initiative,it is of great significance and necessity for China and ASEAN countries to enhance all-round cooperation as important partners.In consideration with the insufficient understanding between China and ASEAN countries,the research group gives a detailed introduction to these organizations in terms of structure,authentication and governance.This report can be divided into four parts.First,the author outlines the translation task in terms of background,content,schedule and requirements from CAST.Then the author summarizes the whole process of task completion,including preparation,translation and revision.After that,the author focuses on the significance of formal equivalence and functional equivalence in this translation practice.Based on theory connotation and case analysis,the thesis explores the flexible application of formal equivalence and functional equivalence in complex scientific translation.And in perspective of word,sentence and paraphrase,the thesis makes comparison between translation under formal equivalence and functional equivalence.At last,the author summarizes the translation practice to draw lessons from this experience.Throughout the process of trans-editing and report-writing,the author has drawn comprehensive and profound understanding to both equivalence theory and scientific translation,which could probably contribute to much progress in the future.
