| The dissertation takes the classic use and attitude of language in sociolinguistics as the investigation area,and it mainly investigates the use of Chongqing dialect by foreign students who studying in Chongqing and their attitudes towards Chongqing dialect.By using a combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis methods,a questionnaire survey form,and using foreign students from 6 universities in Chongqing’s main urban area as samples.I did an in-depth investigation of Chongqing dialects’ use of Chongqing students and their language attitudes towards Chongqing dialects.Data entry software SPSS23.0 was used to perform reliability and validity test,normality test,frequency analysis and related analysis,and then dynamic and static description methods were used to discuss the survey results,and explore the use of Chongqing dialects and language attitudes of overseas students in Chongqing as well as the influencing factors and causes.The thesis is divided into four parts.The first part is an introduction and survey design overview,which mainly discusses the reasons and significance of the topic selection,the theoretical basis and literature review,and the definition of the concept.At the same time,the design of the questionnaire is briefly explained,and then the basic description of statistics was described.The second part,it is based on statistical data,and analyzes the use of Chongqing dialects by Chongqing students from the perspective of objects,occasions,and frequency of use,and then analyzes synchronic differences.At last it summarizes the mode of characteristics and language use of Chongqing dialects by foreign students.The third part analyzes the attitudes of foreign students in Chongqing towards Chongqing dialect from the perspectives of language emotional attitude,language cognitive attitude,and language behavior attitude,and then analyzes the synchronic difference,and it finally summarizes the reasons that affect the language attitude of foreign students.The fourth part mainly summarizes the survey results,including the correlation between language use and language attitudes,the reasons for using Chongqing dialects when studying abroad,and it finally proposes the suggestions in relevance of the use of Chongqing dialects by foreign students from schools,teachers,and international students.Through investigation and analysis,the following conclusions are obtained:Foreign students in Chongqing do use Chongqing dialect,but they still use Mandarin.Most of them have a positive attitude towards Chongqing dialect.However,the differences between individual foreign students and the social language environment influence the use of Chongqing dialect and language attitude of foreign students.The similarity of language,highlighting personality,talking topics,language contact,language use occasions,and audiences are the reasons why foreign students use Chongqing dialect.Therefore,it is very necessary for us to set up a Chongqing dialect culture courses for these students,which not only meets the willingness of some foreign students to learn Chongqing dialect,but also reduces the language anxiety of foreign students and improves their cross-cultural adaptation ability in Chongqing.The number of international students coming to Chongqing has increased year by year.Living in Chongqing,a strong dialect area,will definitely come into contact with Chongqing dialects,and even some international students have to use Chongqing dialects.This phenomenon deserves the attention of the Chinese International Education Department.This article is different from the past in that it combines the language use of foreign students with a survey of dialects to explore in depth the use of Chongqing dialects and language attitudes of this particular language community. |
