Research On XuTangSanTiShi Of GaoShiqi

Gao Shiqi,a well-known scholar in the Qing Dynasty,devoted himself to the compilation and research of Tang poems,and his Xu Tang San Ti Shi is one of his many distinctive works of Tang poems.This article meticulously combs the background and process of the book,Xu Tang San Ti Shi,anthology and poetry.Based on the selection of poems in this anthology,we try to interpret a slump of Gao Shiqi’s poetic thoughts,and at the same time give this selected anthology of Tang poetry a clear value orientation.The first part conducts a basic research on the background,the process of writing the book and the existing editions of the Xu Tang San Ti Shi.The active cultural policy in the early Qing provided a relatively relaxed cultural atmosphere for the active writing of literati.The active cultural policy in the early Qing Dynasty provided a relatively relaxed cultural atmosphere for literati writing.The "Zongtang","Zongsong" and "Early Prosperity,Middle and Late Controversy" in the poetry world provided different breakthroughs in the selection of poetry by literati.It also promoted the upsurge of the compilation of poetry.Based on the San Ti Tang Shi of Zhoubi in the Southern Song Dynasty,Gao Shiqi went through two stages of compilation and selection.The current ideal version is mainly engraved in Langruntang in the 32 nd year(1693)of Emperor Kangxi.The Langruntang manuscript in the 32 nd year of Kangxi collected by Zhejiang Library and the Guo Qinwang’s order book in Dandong Library.The second part studies the characteristics and causes of the selection of poems in the Xu Tang San Ti Shi.The intention of compiling the Xu Tang San Ti Shi is to complement the shortcomings of the San Ti Tang Shi and to point out new methods of poetry learning for poets.This anthology re-selected five-character ancient poems,seven-character ancient poems,and five-character regular poems on the basis of selecting only five-character poems,seven-character poems,and seven-character quatrains in the San Ti Tang Shi.The purpose is to make up for the San Ti Tang Shi which can not fully show the deficiencies of Tang poetry style.Comparing the Xu Tang San Ti Shi and the San Ti Tang Shi,we find that both of them have a tendency to choose middle and late Tang poetry and heavy poetry.There are obvious differences between "preferred ancient poetry" and "preferred metrical poetry".The third part further explores the poetic tendency,value and limitation of the Xu Tang San Ti Shi.After accepting the idea of "seeking the ancients in the Tang Dynasty",Gao Shiqi pointed the retro concept to the ancient poetry of the Tang Dynasty,and traced the ideal of poetry to the Book of Songs through the study of ancient poetry in the Tang Dynasty.Gao Shiqi’s method of writing poetry tends to be long and unrestricted,so he has compiled a lot of Tang Dynasty ancient poems.Qi is another important factor in Gao Shiqi’s selection of poetry.He advocates that poetry should have a vigorous style.The anthology’s attention to ancient poetry in the Tang Dynasty has to a certain extent corrected the errors that scholars from Song Dynasty to Ming Dynasty have paid more attention to metrical poetry and insufficient attention to the achievement of ancient poetry in the Tang Dynasty.Both the improvement and the history of Tang poetry acceptance have positive significance.However,the failure to record Li Bai and Du Fu in the Xu Tang San Ti Shi and the preference for the middle and late Tang are still obvious limitations.
