| Interpreting is a communicative activity in which interpreters play the intermediary role in order to carry out cross-language and cross-cultural communications. The first relatively mature paradigm of interpreting studies is the Paris Interpretive School, which mainly includes the following three major concepts: Interpreting process, the subjectivity of interpreters and the pedagogical model of interpreting.Domestic research on the Interpretive School currently still focuses on applicable research, lacks pure academic and theoretical research.Hence this thesis aims to conduct holistic research of Interpretive Paradigm from the perspective of sociological translation theories and thoroughly analyzes the core concepts of the Interpretive Paradigm:“Interpreting process” and “the subjectivity of interpreter”.It also explains its pedagogical model under the backdrop of the current global interpreting market.Hopefully this thesis can provide constructive suggestions while examining the Interpretive Paradigm. This thesis mainly focuses on analyzing the core concepts of the Interpretive Paradigm:“Interpreting process”,“the subjectivity of interpreter” and “pedagogical model of interpreting. It also comparatively analyses the triangular process of interpreting from the perspective of socio-translation theory.Through the establishment of two small corpus, this thesis proves the interpreting process and comes up with the conclusion: Deverbalization is necessary, but keeping the syntactic structure of the source language also has a greater impact on meaning, and simplification is not a good interpreting strategy.Secondly, for the concept “the subjectivity of interpreters”,this thesis uses the work of socio-translation studies, including the interpreting activity as a social system. The conclusion is that the interpreting system is “operational closure”,and it is a variant system of agents and connections.Interpreters should give a full play to their subjectivity in the process of interpreting, comprehensively coordinate and interact with agents both inside and outside the system as well as confirm ones’ subjectivity through “observation”.Last but not least, for the concept “pedagogical model of interpreting",this thesis combines the current development status of interpreting in Europe and China to study the pedagogical model of the Interpretive Paradigm. In the end the author proposes some suggestions in order to better use the pedagogical model of the Interpretive Paradigm to serve Chinese market.Using socio-translation studies as its theoretical framework, this thesis conducts a holisticresearch on the Interpretive Paradigm, exploring and discussing the limitation of the Interpretive Paradigm and offers suggestions.Hopefully the results of this thesis could fill a certain blank of pure academic research on the Interpretive School which is of great value to interpreting research. |
