| With deeper and wider communications with the world,China is in need of a large number of high-quality interpreters.Except the interpretation work,interpreters also received more and more attention in international communication.Meanwhile,with the development of MTI education in China,more and more MTI students have to improve themselves by participating in interpreting practice.This practice report stems from the author’s own practice in a training course held by FECC,Ministry of Agriculture.The cases in the thesis are from three typical escort interpreting occasions: a visit to Tian’anmen Square,a diagnosis at doctors’ offices,and an interview at a paddy field.According to the three stages of Interpretive Theory’s Triangle Model,namely comprehension,deverbalization and reformulation,the thesis analyses the collected data and reflects how interpreter’s subjectivity is played by studying both successful and failed cases.And the thesis aims to combine the escort interpreting practice with research fruits on interpreter’s subjectivity and to illustrate that an interpreter can provide better interpreting service if playing his or her subjectivity.Analysis shows that at comprehension stage,an interpreter should use his linguistic and extra-linguistic knowledge to grasp both linguistic meaning and non-verbal sense;at deverbalization stage,the interpreter should get rid of the restricts of words based on comprehensive understanding,and memorizing key information quickly and correctly;at reformulation stage,the interpreter should flexibly use interpreting strategies according to the purposes of communication.Also the interpreter needs to choose proper roles at different occasions.This thesis is supposed to serve as a practice reference for students and provide inspirations for teachers updating teaching methods. |
