| This translation material for this article is an excerpt from Richard Kern and Christine Develotte’s Screens and Scenes.This book illustrates the relationships between online visual interfaces and language use in educational contexts.With the advent of web cameras,smartphone cameras,simple graphic design applications,and desktop video conferencing,the media and methods of people’s communication have greatly expanded.Language education depends on them to develop.The author hopes that by translating a series of multi-modal online communication studies,domestic educators can draw inspiration from educational practice and can know how to use the multi-modal interface to achieve the cross-cultural goals of teachers and learners in online education.The author studies the translation practice of some chapters of the book.In addition to the features of informational texts,the language of the excerpts also has the characteristics of expressive and callable texts.Therefore,this translation project mainly adopts the strategy of combining semantic translation and communicative translation of Newmark.The author analyzes it with relevant examples in the report.This report is comprised of five parts: task description,process description,theoretical foundation,case analysis and conclusion.The firstchapter introduces the background,purpose,meaning and structure of the report.The second chapter describes the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translation process and post-translation management.The third chapter states the definition,differences and connections of the theoretical foundation.The fourth chapter is the main content of the report.The applicability and effectiveness of Newmark’s translation theory in the translation of theses and works are demonstrated through many case studies.Chapter five is a summary of translation practice.The author hopes that the analysis and summary of this practical report will be helpful to the translation of other related papers. |
