Film is a kind of national cultural activity, and since its birth,it has made great contributions to enriching the cultural and spiritual life of the masses.Among them, genre films are driven by commercial nature and pay great attention to the satisfaction of the spiritual and emotional needs of the public.Since 2002,when Zhang Yimou’s Hero has taken more than 200 million at the box office,Chinese genre films have gotten much more eyes of people. They have continuously extended and enhanced the industrial chain and value chain, forming a huge market system. But,we also found that after the movies and their marketing ends, audience lost the overall perception of the story, only those fragmented memories, like funny or sensational or scary memories are left to them,Chinese genre films are not seeing and hearing the best cultural feast, more like convenience foods without nutrition. Not only that, compared with other cultural industries developed countries such as America,Chinese genre films win in the total box office, but lost the quality of the script, special effects and photography, classic film are rare, also do not havea real world influence film IP,lack of power in the international film market, there are also drawbacks for building a socialist cultural power.Movie is the art of emotional communication. As one of the representatives of mass culture, what is the relationship between the development of Chinese genre films and social emotions? What kind of emotional experience and influence does it bring to the audience? Why the audience lack their emotion? We’ve been ignoring this issue all the time.Starting from the emotion,it should provide some guidance for us.Post-emotionlism put forward by Ms.Petrovic in the 1960 s,mainly discussed emotional manipulation, which was linked with Chinese genre films in many ways, therefore, the research based on post-emotionlism,take the Chinese genre fimls from 2000 to 2019 as examples, using the method of qualitative analysis, study theinteraction between Chinese genre films and popular emotion, and the influence to the real society,in order to understand the medium characteristics of film, find emotional interpretation for several current social phenomenon,at the same time, provide reference significance for the realization of more benign development of domestic genre films. From the theoretical pedigree of "post-emotionalism",the paper found that dualism of emotional rationality, consumerism, and the "other-oriented" social character are inextricably linked to it,which proves the deep foundation of emotions that can be manipulated.IThrough combing the flow of emotional expression in Chinese genre films,it is not difficult to find that emotion has changed from direct expression to false manipulation,Chinese genre films have had the buds of post-emotionalism as early as the late 1990s.The reasons why post-emotionalism has emerged and developed in China, points out the problems existing in the aspects of machine worship, adaptive ethics, cultural industry,self-identity and mass media,In Chinese genre films,it is specifically manifested as the emotional anxiety of the sexes, the lack of narrative at the bottom, the withering of traditional virtues in the content, and the linear narrative process, fragmentation and mechanization, and the amplification of single stimuli and many more in the form.In addition, this study also found that the reason why post-emotionalism emerged and developed in Chinese genre films lies in the internal operation of the film and the driving force of the social environment. At last, many phenomenons such as emotional alienation, media dependence, social involutio explain the potential serious harm of post-emotionalism,We should be vigilant and take countermeasures to rectify the media ecology and return to the era of emotionalism.
