| For an IT multinational in dire need of localizing its software overseas,an in-house translation team can outperform professional language service providers in terms of budget, knowledge symmetry, translation consistency, accountability and business confidentiality.Based on a localization internship in the department L of the company B,this paper probes into translation quality assurance(QA)in the linguistic aspect and project management, summarizing an in-house localization model for Chinese internet enterprises. Two steps should be followed in the linguistic QA.First, the source language should be generated within a standardized process and controlled with writing style guides.Second, writing style guides, terminology and visual specifications are applied as translation strategies to standardize User Experience(UX)translation copywriting that features single source of truth, fragmentation, interaction, dynamic updating, etc.Three aspects should be observed in the project management QA.First,a PRD-driven(product requirement document)translation management process using Agile approach should switch the role of a project manager to that of a product manager while transferring translation service demanders into a written PRD.Second,an all-in-one Software as a Service(SaaS)combining functions of Computer-Aided Tools(CAT)and Translation Management System(TMS)should be adopted to manage translation projects.More specifically,Single Source of Truth(SSOT)is used to manage, trace and update translation copies while in-context preview is used for immersive translation experience and more accuracy in review.Last but not least, expert scaffolding, reciprocal scaffolding and self-scaffolding are used to generate a learning environment where in-house translators learn and translate efficiently. |
