A Comparative Study Of Aesthetic Reproduction Of Fuzzy Language In The English Versions Of Teahouse

More and more researches on fuzzy language have been carried out in recent years.However,with plenty of the documents perused,the author finds that the current academic researches mainly focus on the review and translation strategies about fuzzy language.The cognition of its aesthetic value and function is relatively insufficient.As the manifestation of the beauty of literary works,fuzzy language provides readers with space for imagination and unique aesthetic experience.Therefore,in terms of literary translation,it requires the translators to reproduce this aesthetic perception of fuzzy language in one way or another.Then how to evaluate whether or not the translators have successfully reproduced the beauty of the original works from the perspective of fuzzy language? The thesis adopts the research method of questionnaire,using Lao She’s representative work Teahouse as the carrier to calculate and compare the fuzziness of the original text with that of its two English versions having the aid of information entropy in information science and draws a conclusion that Howard’s version is more faithful to the original text to a certain extent.It also proves the feasibility of information entropy in literary translation criticism in the process.The thesis aims at providing a new research perspective for literary translation criticism and a more objective basis to reduce the subjectivity in the translation evaluation.
