Research On Emotional Expression Of Fonts In Visual Communication Design

Character is a unique information transmission carrier evolved in the long history of human beings,and also a symbol of human culture and civilization.The visual form of characters is derived from the different cultures,histories,regions and technologies of different countries,and the expression is also different,which forms the different forms of expression of characters,namely fonts.As the wheel of history rolls forward,each type of font is undergoing different development and changes.Until today,font design,as an important part of visual communication design,has assumed the function of expressing various design demands.Different emotional expressions of design are reflected in font design,and different fonts can also express different emotions.This paper focuses on the relationship and influence between people’s emotions and font design,and how to accurately express people’s different emotions through different fonts.The first chapter of this paper mainly discusses the research background of font design and font mood,sorts out and summarizes the research status at home and abroad,and explains the research purpose,significance and innovation of this topic respectively.The second chapter summarizes the concepts related to font design and studies the related history of font design.It includes the history of the development of fonts,the comparison of Chinese and Western characters,and the explanation of the important fonts in the Chinese font library.In the third chapter,the author classifies the fonts and explains the influence of the structure,strokes and glyphs of different fonts on the emotional expression and how the creators’ emotions are reflected through the fonts.This chapter mainly through the unique emotional expression of different fonts to start with the study of its formal aesthetic characteristics,summed up the characteristics of different fonts and emotional expression;The fourth chapter,through the previous chapter,discusses that the combination of stroke,texture,color,structure and other elements of different fonts will bring people different emotions,and analyzes the expression dimensions of fonts under different emotions based on people’s emotions.The fifth chapter specifically analyzes the expression forms of font emotion in the design of posters,books and packaging,and makes a systematic and detailed analysis based on actual cases.In the last chapter,the conclusion part summarizes the whole text and looks forward to the future development of font design.In visual communication design,the discussion of font design has never stopped.Fonts were born at the moment when characters came into being.Different historical periods were affected by many factors,and fonts also changed accordingly.Specific historical periods produced specific fonts,while fonts also reflected the history of a specific period.With the development of art and aesthetics,fonts have developed a variety of calligraphy fonts with artistic value in the initial function of information transmission.In addition,due to technological innovation,a variety of printed fonts and digital fonts emerge at the historic moment,among which there is no lack of research and criticism on font functionality,aesthetic and emotional expression.With the rapid development of the design industry,people’s demand for font design is more and more intense.The research on font emotional expression can help designers better understand fonts.In this paper,the research status and related concepts of font design are comprehensively expounded,the performance and characteristics of font in different periods are summarized,and the similarities and differences in the definition of emotion and emotion in psychology are introduced.The emotions expressed by different fonts are discussed through the analysis of the aesthetic feeling of font itself and the research of the emotions expressed by different fonts.
