With the rapid and continuous development of China’s economy,Chinese has changed from a language spoken by the Chinese to an international and widely used language.The popularity of Chinese has also attracted the attention of language learners in countries worldwide.Therefore,students from many countries come to China to better learn Chinese,and the author is no exception.This research uses a novel self-narrative research framework as the research method,with the author’s study itself as the research object,analyzes and studies the learning process and experience of Chinese learning in both the non-target language and the target language environments,and narrates the learning process,details and the issues encountered during the process and narrates the interesting stories of the author himself in the process of Chinese learning,as well as the learning motivation,learning purpose,learning method,learning style,and strategy in this learning path,and analyze and research the different learning environments and different learning stages.The thesis consists of six parts including the followings:The first part is the introduction,which mainly introduces the origin of the research,the purpose,and significance of the study,a review of relevant literature;The second part is about the research design;including the research question,and the research methods and ideas and the research object description.The third part is the first stage of Chinese learning in a non-target language environment.It mainly narrates and analyzes the author’s learning motivation in the primary stage of Chinese learning,"class and extracurricular" of Chinese learning and learning advantages.The fourth part is the second stage of Chinese learning,"Chinese learning in the target language environment",analyzing and discussing the "input and output" of Chinese learning in the target language environment,the impact of the target language environment on classroom Chinese learning and the influence that "openness to language learning" has on the efficiency of Chinese learning,as well as Chinese learning strategies and learning styles.The fifth part is the adaptation part.The author describes the life adaptation and habits in learning Chinese in the target language environment,cultural adaptation,and discusses the fun of learning Chinese and Chinese culture and the impact on learning Chinese.The sixth part is the conclusion of this research and summarizes the author’s Chinese learning experience in the non-target language environment and target language environment.Based on self-narrative research,summarizing the author’s personal Chinese language learning experience,it concludes that communication is the most important function of language learning.Therefore,when learning a language,the main goal is to cultivate the ability to use the language as a tool of communication.The author from the primary stage of Chinese learning up until completion of the HSK LEVEL 6utilized multiple methods and strategies to improve Chinese communication skills and has maintained continuity in the learning of the language.Through this the author hopes to help Chinese learners master the language ability and skills of Chinese learning and to give Chinese teachers and researchers some enlightenment.
