| Perceived parental conflict may lead to adolescent internalization problems and bring serious negative effects on adolescent mental health.Long-term exposure to parental conflict will reduce individuals’ perceived level of social support, destroy their sense of security, and cause individuals to have internalization problems. In order to explore the influence of perceived parental conflict on internalization problems and the mechanism behind it,965 students from two middle schools in Wuhan were investigated by using the Perceived Parental Conflict Scale,Perceived Social Support Scale,Security Scale and Adolescent Internalization Problem Scale.SPSS25.0 was used for descriptive statistical analysis, difference test, correlation analysis and regression analysis, etc.,to explore the role of security and perceived social support in the perception of parental conflict and internalization problems. The study reached the following conclusions:(1)There was a positive correlation between perceived parental conflict and adolescents’ internalization problems. The higher the perceived level of parental conflict, the higher the possibility of adolescents’ internalization problems.(2)Perceived parental conflict was negatively correlated with adolescents’perceived social support and sense of security. The higher the perceived level of parental conflict, the lower the perceived level of social support and sense of security.(3)Perceived social support plays a mediating role between perceived parental conflict and adolescents’ internalization problems.Perceived parental conflict affects adolescents’ internalization problems by reducing the level of perceived social support.(4)The sense of security plays a mediating role between perceived parental conflict and internalization problems.Perceived parental conflict can affect adolescents’internalization problems by reducing their sense of security.(5)Perceived social support and sense of security played a sequential mediating role between perceived parental conflict and internalization problems. In other words, perceived parental conflict would reduce adolescents’ perceived social support, thus damaging the sense of security, and finally influencing the internalization problems. This study shows that understanding social support and sense of security plays an important role in the perception of parental conflict and adolescent internalization problems, which enriches the theory of adolescent internalization problems and provides a new idea for the intervention and treatment of adolescent internalization problems. |
