The Auspicious Implication And Contemporary Presentation Of Kylin Culture

Kylin is a traditional auspicious animal in China,which has accompanied the Chinese for a long time.Its external form and internal implication constitute the collective memory and cultural accumulation of the whole nation.It is an important part of the traditional Chinese culture,especially auspicious culture.However,up to now,under the dual constraints of history and reality,the inheritance soil of kylin culture has been gradually destroyed,and the sacred animal has been forgotten in the corner of memory.Unlike other intangible cultural heritages,the "forgotten" of kylin doesn’t mean,disappeared".It often appears in many aspects of people’s life,such as names of people and places,auspicious words,creative symbols and so on.Despite this,it is the most common but strange object.When talking about kylin,most people only know its name,not its shape,let alone its folklore and inherent meaning Therefore,taking the contemporary presentation of kylin culture as the research object and exploring how to expand the contemporary influence of kylin culture,we may find the path and possibility for the kylin culture’s resurgence.This article begins with an introduction and concludes with a conclusion.The main body is divided into three chapters.The introduction starts from the reasons of selecting the topic.It elaborates the current grim inheritance situation of kylin culture and the theoretical and practical significance of this research.Then,the article sorts out the research context of kylin culture in China,and points out the achievements and shortcomings in the current research field to put forward the research focus and research methods of this article.The first chapter starts with the image and legend of the kylin using quadruple evidence method in order to clarify the external form and internal belief of kylin.In terms of images,the chapter verifies the written records in excavated documents and handed down documents and the kylin patterns in the cultural relics to explore the mother-type,accommodating elements and evolution rules of the "mixed form" divine animals.In terms of legends,it is mainly based on oral legends circulating in the hometown of kylin-Jiaxiang and Juye in Shandong province as the main basis and combined with historical documents combs the historical and contemporary kylin legends from three aspects of origin,character and custom,so as to explore the cultural origin of kylin.The second chapter is based on the basis of the first chapter.From the perspective of auspicious culture,it excavates the auspicious meaning contained in the kylin culture and embodies in auspicious,authority,happy event.The chapter expounds the process from totem to auspicious animals,and analyses the kylin different interpretations in the political culture and folk culture.It demonstrates the significance of authority and reproduction.The third chapter looks back to the contemporary focusing on kylin culture in contemporary as auspicious language,folk culture,creative resources.It uses comparative study method to spy out intertextuality and differences between the spirit of kylin culture in contemporary and the auspicious meaning of traditional kylin culture.It expounds how Kylin constructs cultural symbols in literary works,video works,and artistic design.It analyzes its distinctive feature in different transformation path.The conclusion points out that kylin culture in contemporary still embodies the common appeal of the public for auspicious celebration,but it also enriches the cultural connotation in the process of mutual permeation blending with the meanings of other auspicious animals.Then,in view of the shortcomings in the performance of the existing resource conversion,I put forward the author’s conjectures and suggestions,and frankly confesse the shortcomings of this research and the prospect of future research in order to think about the future of kylin culture.
