| With globalization,communication and cooperation between China and foreign countries have become more frequent.Although COVID-19 has imposed a negative impact on international exchanges,online video meetings are still very frequent.Interpreters play an important role in it.Therefore,ensuring the quality of interpreting and accurately conveying information are important prerequisites of being excellent interpreters.The author has found that the use of hedges is crucial for accurately conveying information and reflecting the speaker’s attitude.But it is not easy to deal with hedges.Therefore,it is necessary to study the processing of hedges in consecutive interpretation.In this report,according to the online lecture "The Test of Leadership in Covid-19"given by Professor Jin Yinan,the author made a consecutive mock interpretation and completed transcriptions of both original and interpreting text.Guided by the semantic and pragmatic functions of hedges,she analyzes the use of hedges in the original and the interpretation based on the classification.This thesis probes into the problems of misuse,insufficient use,and redundant use of hedges and put forward the causes of the errors and the improvement strategies.The author hopes that the thesis can provide help for both students and interpreters. |
