A Report On The Chinese-english Translation Practice Of Words With Ethnic Features Of Tujia Nationality From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the strategy of "going out" of Chinese culture,China pays more and more attention to the protection and communication of culture.The Tujia nationality in China has a large population and unique culture,and the dissemination of its unique culture is helpful to respond to the "going out" strategy of Chinese culture.The ethnic words of Tujia nationality contains rich cultural connotation,so its English translation has practical significance.This report is the translation practice report of the words with ethnic features of Tujia nationality from Protecting National Spiritual Homeland—an analysis of intangible cultural heritages of Xiangxi Ethnic Minorities.The main words involved include words of oral culture,folk dance art,traditional music art culture,etc.In this translation practice report,the author divides the words into two categories,which are the words with partial cultural vacancy in the target language and the words with complete cultural vacancy in the target language.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory,the author proposes the translation methods of free translation,free translation with annotation,literal translation with annotation and transliteration with annotation to translate the ethnic words of Tujia nationality,so as to solve the problem of retaining national features of the original language as much as possible,fully conveying its cultural connotation during the translation process with a view to disseminating Tujia unique culture.
