Translation Of No-subject Sentences In Chinese Science And Technology Texts From The Perspective Of Functional Equivalence

Nowadays,scientific and technological information exchange is increasing between China and the world.It often needs to convey China's science and technology abroad.Therefore,the importance of Chinese science and technology translation is more prominent.The Chinese scientific text's distinctive feature is abundant in no-subject sentence,and no-subject sentence is also the unique characteristics in Chinese.Obviously the English translation of the Chinese no-subject sentence is a question worthy of discussion.Chinese is the typical topic language while English is the typical language with subject.In the translation,you need to take into account the differences between English and Chinese.Nida's functional equivalence theory emphasizes equivalence and readers' response,focusing on the content of the article rather than the original form.So this text follows Nida's functional equivalence as guide direction,take the translation of the Chinese no-subject sentence as research objects and through practical examples to summary translations methods of the no-subject sentence.With a number of translation examples,this paper is classified the no-subject sentence in Chinese scientific text,and it has presents five kinds of classification.It includes passive sentence method,subject addition method,existential sentence method,inverted sentence method and imperative sentence method.Only make appropriate adjustments to the sentence structures can realize the function equivalence of the original text and to convey the original meanings better in translation of Chinese texts.Only in this way,the translation work of electronic product manual can continuously improved.
