Pre assignment,also known as pre research and pre learning,is a tentative learning task for students to carry out according to their existing knowledge and life experience before teachers teach students the new course content.It is not for the purpose of examination,but to stimulate students’ interest in learning and improve classroom efficiency.Its goal highly conforms to the requirements of "emphasizing practice,cooperation and autonomy" in the new curriculum reform.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the current situation of pre assignment for classroom teaching under the new curriculum reform.In order to fully understand the current situation of English pre assignment in senior primary schools in Shanghai,the author carries out the research from the cognitive and practical levels,and designs the research framework.In order to deeply understand English teachers’ cognition of pre assignment and their experience in the process of implementation,this paper designs an interview outline from three dimensions of conceptual cognition,functional cognition and emotional attitude cognition,and selects some interviewees to collect their pre assignment cases and students’ assignment texts for text analysis.On the basis of the text analysis framework,this study established the content,type,form,source,evaluation subject,students’ completion and other specific observation and analysis points of the pre assignment,and designed a text analysis scale to conduct quantitative research on the collected pre assignment cases.Through the direct observation and study of English pre assignment cases and texts,this paper aims to have a comprehensive understanding of English teachers’ pre assignment design and students’ completion,and to provide reference and basis for the optimization design of English pre assignment.It is found that the current situation of the implementation of English pre assignment in senior primary school is not ideal.In the process of the implementation of English pre assignment,primary school English teachers generally do not have a deep and accurate understanding of the concept of pre assignment.There are still many problems to be improved in the implementation process of English pre assignment,such as too much basic knowledge content,lack of cultural background knowledge penetration,general assignment requirements,serious lack of grammar inquiry pre assignment,lack of strict feedback and so on.In view of the above problems,this paper argues that the concept of pre assignment should be popularized "from top to bottom",so as to improve teachers’ cognition of the connotation and function of pre assignment,and proposes that teachers can cooperate in the design of English pre assignment learning list,skillfully use the "work together" app,strictly exercise feedback,and flexibly use performance evaluation.This paper hopes that these suggestions can contribute to the optimization and improvement of the current situation of the implementation of English pre assignment in senior primary school.Finally,it is hoped that through this survey,primary school English teachers can improve their awareness and attention of English pre assignment,so as to improve the cultivation of students’ self-learning ability and autonomy.
