| Today’s world economy is characterized by frequent changes and unstable development,and the overall situation is complex.As the world’s second largest economy,China has made great contributions to the steady growth of the world economy.At the same time,constantly updating the research results in the economic field and maintaining the communication and dialogue with the forefront of the world have a fundamental role and significance for the economic development of China and even the world,and the translation of economic academic texts plays a positive role in promoting this process.This translation practice report will take a paper titled Rethinking Monetary Policy After the Crisis written and published by Frederic S.Mishkin in 2017,a professor at the Columbia University for the translated text,through a close reading of the text and the translation,discusses the economic academic text translation skills and methods,It is expected to promote the exchange and dissemination of academic research results in relational domain at domestic and overseas to up to a point.The combination of the translation principles of teleology,coherence and fidelity,this practice report analyzes and summarizes the problems in translation practice from three aspects: words,sentences and texts.Through exploring the text types and characteristics,the lexical level involves the Chinese translation of economic professional terms,proper nouns,abbreviations and title words.In this paper,the author adopts translation methods such as transliteration,literal translation and free translation to maintain the language style characteristics.At the sentence level,the author adopts the methods of disassembling and translating passive sentences and long difficult sentences in the original text according to the sentence structure,so as to guarantee the complete and accurate information of the original text.On the textual level,the translation methods,such as ellipsis,anaphora and addition of cohesion,are used mainly in line with the domestication strategy to enhance the readability of the translated text.Through this translation practice,the author has realized that the translation of economic academic texts should be based on the features of the texts themselves,aiming at achieving academic and cultural exchanges between different languages and cultures,and selecting suitable translation strategies so as to accurately communicate the information in the translated text and undertake the readers’ receiving of such text information.The author hopes that this practice can provide some enlightenment and reference for the translation of economic academic texts in the future. |
