A Report On The Translation Of Informative Economic Texts From The Perspective Of Communicative Translation Theory

The translation practice report mainly conducts analysis of the translation strategies and skills of informative economic texts from the perspective of communicative translation theory,which is firstly put forward by Peter Newmark in the 1980 s in his book Approaches to Translation.with semantic translation and communicative translation as its two core concepts.And he further points out that translators can adopt different translation strategies for different types of original texts and different readers,emphasizing the equivalence of effectiveness between the original and translated texts.In addition,based on language functions,Newmark classifies texts as expressive text,informative text and vocative text,among which informative texts are non-literary texts such as economic or technological texts and often translated by means of communicative translation.The translated text is excerpted from Enhancing Implementation of APEC Connectivity Blueprint in the Digital Era: Digital Connectivity for Stronger Recovery(excerpt).As the growth potential of the world economy,the global digital economy has been increasing in size and status in the national economy.The connectivity of the digital economy market is of great practical significance in promoting the development of the digital economy,improving its cooperation governance,and accelerating the digital transformation of Chinese enterprises,cross-border flow of data and digital trade.At the same time,the connectivity of digital economy has put forward higher requirements for the translation of digital economy texts.Firstly,a summary of the research background and significance is provided,together a revision of the overall characteristics,trends and deficiency of the research on informational text translation from the perspective of communicative translation theory at home and abroad.Secondly,the theoretical framework of this translation practice report is constructed on the basis of the study of communicative translation theory,text typology as well as the informative economic text translation.And then the three translation processes of the selected text are illustrated: pre-translation,while-translation and post-translation.Finally,under the guidance of Newmark’s communicative translation theory,this translation practice report conducts an analysis of the translation strategies and skills of this selected text at lexical,syntactic and textual levels,analyzes the translator’s findings and gains in the translation research and practice,and puts forward some limitations and deficiency,together with some suggestions and solutions.Translation practice shows that most of the previous studies of communicative translation theories focus on the isomorphic relationship between communicative translation theories and text types,while translation studies in other fields are relatively insufficient.Newmark’s communicative translation theory has important guiding significance for the translation of informative economic texts.The reasonable application of conversion(parts of speech),amplification,inverse translation(word order adjustment),as well as cohesive and coherent sentences translation methods is feasible and practical to effectively convey the original information and improve the quality of the translation.The translator makes comprehensive use of these strategies to satisfy the readers’ expectations,fulfill the communicative purpose,and ensure the faithfulness,accuracy and readability of the translation,expecting to provide useful reference for the translation of informative economic texts in the future.
