| With the competition in intellectual property,research and development have become increasingly tough;all countries in the world have attached great importance to patent protection,and the patent protection occupies a decisive position in the increasingly fierce field of international competition.On the basis of the work experience in a translation company,this report analyzes the translation from English to Chinese of the patent document Systems and Methods for Augmented Reality Display in Navigated Surgeries.Chapter one introduces the translation project from two aspects: content of the materials and language characteristics of the patent text,so as to learn the characteristics of the text and understand the matters requiring attention and translation rules to be followed.Chapter two profiles the entire translation process in detail,including pre and post translation.This chapter goes on to describe the structure and content of the original text,literature review and the establishment of the terms.Additionally,this chapter discusses the application of various search engines and translation aids in the translation process,the specific translation process of different sections of the patent document,and the proofreading and typesetting after translation.Chapter three briefly explains the translation theories,methods and strategies used in this report,and summary of the translation practice focusing on the Skopos theory and its application.Chapter four focuses on case analysis as the body of the entire report.It is summarized from three aspects: lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.The translation techniques and strategies adopted in this translation practice primarily include literal translation,following method,loan translation,syntactic linearity,complexion reduction,sentence structures reinvention and others.The conclusion reviews the entire translation process,and analyzes the patent text and theory used in this translation practice.On the one hand,it sets forth the author’s understanding of patent translation;on the other hand,it puts forward suggestions for patent translation. |
