The Ming Zhongdu Imperial City was built in Fengyang,the hometown of Emperor Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang,from the 2nd year to the 8th year of Hongwu(1369-1357).It was the first capital built in the early Ming Dynasty.In the late Ming Dynasty,they were all struck down,dismantled and destroyed,leaving only a few ruins,but the stone resources left over are very rich.The stone carvings in the middle capital of the Ming Dynasty are made of exquisite materials,exquisite designs,diverse themes and rich meanings,which have important historical data value and artistic value.This paper takes the stone carving patterns of the imperial city of Zhongdu in Ming Dynasty as the research object,through the methods of investigation,literature research,case analysis and so on to collect,collate and analyze the data of the city of Zhongdu in Ming Dynasty.First of all,the cultural ecological environment of stone carvings in the Middle Capital of Ming Dynasty is analyzed.Including the cultural,political,natural environment and other historical reasons for the formation of the Ming capital.Secondly,through field research,the basic situation of the Ming Zhongdu Imperial City remains is sorted out,and the stone carving patterns of the Ming Zhongdu Imperial City are sorted and summarized,and the layout rules and pattern types are analyzed.In order to systematically analyze the patterns of the Ming Zhong Du,this paper divides the patterns of the Imperial City into three types: animal patterns,twine patterns and geometric patterns,and analyzes the representative stone engravings of the three patterns,detailing their origin,development and plastic art characteristics.Thirdly,on the basis of the aesthetic changes of stone carving art in the past dynasties,this paper analyzes and summarizes the aesthetic thoughts and aesthetic connotations of stone carving patterns in the Middle Capital of the Ming Dynasty.Finally,according to the present situation of the ruins of the imperial city of Zhongdu of the Ming Dynasty and combining with local characteristics,practical suggestions are provided for the development,protection and inheritance of the stone carvings in Zhongdu of the Ming Dynasty,in order to fully explore and play the artistic value contained in the stone carvings in Zhongdu of the Ming Dynasty and form a cultural strategy of sustainable development.
