| After thousands of years of development and inheritance,Chinese painting has always had a unique aesthetic system and evaluation criteria.Painters’ pursuit of the artistic conception of the picture atmosphere is far greater than the description of the real light and shadow space.The intuitive means of light and shadow expression are relatively less in traditional Chinese painting,so that some people think that the light and shadow expression is one of the characteristics of Western classical painting.In fact,there is light and shadow expression in Chinese painting,which is just different from that in the West.With the development of modern Chinese painting,the light and shadow expression in painting does not completely imitate the light and shadow expression of Western painting.Chinese traditional aesthetic culture has a profound impact on the techniques and characteristics of light and shadow expression in Chinese painting.Some contemporary Chinese painters break the habit of pursuing the ultimate artistic conception in traditional Chinese painting,skillfully use light and shadow elements,and make new attempts in the use of color.In their works,they not only use objective light and shadow reasonably,but also emphasize the expression of subjective emotion on this basis,and create a landscape atmosphere,forming a unique effect different from the expression of light and shadow language in Western painting.This paper explores the theoretical basis,practical methods and development prospects of light and shadow expression in Contemporary Chinese painting from the perspective of comparison between China and the West. |
