As an important thread of the source of film development, documentaries have the status of "national photo album",and historical and cultural documentaries,as a branch, bear the mission of "national historical card".Historical and cultural documentaries have been flourishing in recent years, with more diversified narrative techniques, especially the widespread use of "scenario reproduction",which has increased the plot tension and the exquisiteness of the documentaries, but this also affects the fundamental principles of documentary creation—-Documentary,resulting in blurring and distortion of the boundaries of this type of documentary, sliding into the historical drama of the "Four Unsimilars".This article selects one of the masterpieces of historical and cultural documentaries,Hexi Corridor as a research case.Starting from the film and television narrative theory, this paper analyzes the documentary’s narrative content, narrative strategy, narrative language, narrative structure, and scene reproduction, and attempts to analyze the documentary’s narrative content, narrative strategy, narrative language, narrative structure, and scene reproduction. This research is divided into four chapters. The first chapter mainly introduces the geographical environment and humanistic environment of the Hexi Corridor, highlighting the importance of the region, and at the same time introduces the origin and significance of the creation of Hexi Corridor.Through literature research, the relevant background of the Hexi Corridor is displayed in detail. The second chapter analyzes the narrative of Hexi Corridor from the perspective of film and television narrative theory, and summarizes the narrative characteristics of the film: multi-angle narrative perspectives,story-based narrative techniques, linear narrative structure, and artistic narrative language.Chapter 3 focuses on the analysis and discussion of the pros and cons of the new documentary expression of "scenario reproduction",and points out that the documentary Hexi Corridor presents an "absent Hexi Corridor".The fourth chapter summarizes the narrative analysis and "scenario reproduction" of Hexi Corridor, summarizes its shortcomings and misunderstandings in narrative strategy and production, and then analyzes the excessive use of "scenario reproduction" in the entire documentary industry. The cause of the problem and relevant countermeasures are proposed.
