Study On The Spatial Narrative Of Tie Ning’s Novels

Tie Ning,as a capable female writer in the field of contemporary literary,has been such exuberant creativity that she has written over a hundred works of literature.Space image is abundant in her works.Associated with the emergence of “space steering”in recent years,the author investigates the deep connotation of the value and significance of space narrative in Tie Ning’s novels from a spatial perspective,analyzing specific type of space narrative on the basis of the existing space theory.The thesis consists of Introduction,Main Body and Conclusion.The Introduction gives information about the research of Tie Ning at first.Then it summarizes the development of space narrative at home and aboard.Lastly,it points out the thought and significance of the research project.The Main Body is divided into three chapters.Chapter one analyses the urban and rural space and its conversion in Tie Ning’s novels.She was made a good insight into urban and rural areas owing to her unusual experience of going to the countryside and return to the city.There is a reflection on modernity compared with urban and rural civilization.Chapter two investigates the text space in Tie Ning’s novels from the perspective of narrative structure.Inspired by Frank’s theory of “spatial form”,the narrative structure in Tie Ning’s novels is classified into set box,juxtaposition and grid on the basis of spatial form in fiction text.The structure of set box refers to the long stories containing short stories.The structure of juxtaposition refers to the concatenation of images or clues.The structure of grid is evolved into Tie Ning’s “relation” theory.Chapter three analyzes the most unique space,female body in Tie Ning’s novels.It being a kind of spatiality,mankind is disciplined and punished by power mechanism.Through writing the female body in different periods,Tie Ning reveals the process of female body from being oppressed to being emancipated and makes it legal to write the female body in literary history.The Conclusion,the generalization of a whole thesis,indicates the unique significance of space narrative in Tie Ning’s novels,reflects the inadequacy in this thesis and looks ahead to the research on space narrative in Tie Ning’s novels.
