In the Neolithic age,Mount Tai was regarded as an object of worship by the surrounding ancestors.With the rulers and the people continuing to worship and other factors,Mount Tai gradually developed the God of Mount Tai,and was granted by many emperors,the influence is also expanding.Since then the official of Song dynasty built imperial palace for the God of Mount Tai named Jin Dai temple,and became the most important faithful places to believe the God of Mount Tai,During the Ming and Qing dynasties,the court still came to worship many times,or repaired the temple,leaving a number of inscriptions about the faith toward the god of Mount Tai,especially in the Ming and Qing dynasties,most of these inscriptions has become an important witness on dai temple in the Ming and Qing dynasties about the faith toward the god of Mount Tai.In this paper,35 sacred inscriptions carved on Mount Taishan in Ming and Qing Dynasties,including relic,are sorted out,including 15 inscriptions in Ming Dynasty and 20 in Qing Dynasty,and the content,shape and system of each inscriptions are explored to analyze the distribution characteristics of time and place of inscriptions.From the content of the inscription,it can be classified into three types: dispatched envoy to sacrifice monument,Dai Temple reconstructing monument,emperor and scholar poem carving.Based on the inscriptions on the sacred belief of Dai Temple in Mount Tai in Ming and Qing Dynasties,combined with local Chronicles,official history and contemporary works,this paper analyzes the sacred belief of Dai Temple in Mount Tai in Ming and Qing Dynasties from the perspective of related religious groups and their activities.Among them,sorting out the belief group of Dai Temple in Ming and Qing Dynasties mainly has three kinds,namely the emperor,dispatch sacrificial officer and local official.Then I will further analyze the sacrificial reason of these three kinds of groups;Sorting out the activities in the Ming and Qing Dai temples are mainly the velvet temple and the sacrificial activity,and studying the velvet temple activities from the three aspects of the velvet leader and the employment,the reason of the velvet temple,and the source of the funds of the velvet temple,and studying the sacrificial activity from the two main ceremonies of religious rite and sacrificial offering.Through the analysis of relevant groups and their activities,it is concluded that there are two aspects of the belief characteristics of Dai Temple in Mount Tai in Ming and Qing Dynasties.One is the strong official color,which is reflected in the object of sacrifice,the reason of sacrifice and the activity of building Dai temple,which is produced by the influence and direct embodiment of the state power.Second,the characteristics of the change of the identity of the sacrificial people in Mount Tai,performance the Taoist priest gradually faded out the sacrificial activity.In the late Ming and Qing Dynasties,the official position of sacrificial dispatching personnel gradually became low,the Qing sacrificial dispatching officials were mainly Han officials before Qianlong Dynasty,and manchurian officials after Qianlong Dynasty,which has a certain relationship with the natural,political and economic environment and the change of rulers’ attitude towards the sacred belief of Dai Temple in Mount Tai.
