| This is a report of translation practice.The source text is taken from Chapter Seventeen,Chapter Eighteen and Chapter Twenty of the book Energy: A Human History.The translator selects three chapters of the book which mainly introduces the development history of nuclear energy,wind energy and the environmental problems caused by smog.In the light of Newmark’s communicative translation theory,the translator explores some issues during the translation process on terminologies,passive voice sentences,long and complex sentences,cohesion,and rhetorical devices.This translation report is divided into four parts,namely,task description,process description,case analysis and conclusion.In task description,the translator briefly analyzes the features and contents of the source text.Moreover,significance of the translation report is also elaborated.The second part is process description,which elaborates the preparations before translation,the translation process and the proofreading and modification of the translation practice.In the third part,based on communicative translation theory,case analysis will be presented at lexical level,syntactic level and textual level.The final part is the conclusion.It is mainly about the experience and enlightenment the translator gains from the translation process.What’s more,the translator hopes the report can provide inspiration for those who interested in the translation of energy history. |
