This report is a practice report on the C-E translation of nuclear power texts. In the report, the author analyzes the problems at linguistic level and difficulties at non-linguistic level in the translation of Preliminary Safety Analysis Report of Nuclear Power Station X and provides corresponding solutions under the guidance of skopos theory.Wherein, the problems in the linguistic aspect involve: mistranslation of common words with new meanings and of acronyms at the lexical level, redundant expressions in target texts and inaccurate shift between active and passive voices at the syntactic level, and incoherence and inappropriate text style problems at the textual level. The difficulties in non-linguistic aspect include: inefficient team work and the lack of specialized knowledge and of on-site experience. The solutions proposed for solving problems at the linguistic level include extending word meaning, building acronym lists, recasting sentences, analyzing sentence elements, domestication and translating in context. And solutions for solving difficulties at the non-linguistic level include: building effective communication mechanism and collecting project-related material. This report shows that the solutions proposed under the guidance of skopos theory are feasible and applicable in the C-E translation of nuclear power texts.Besides, the author hopes to provide reference for translators to be engaged in the nuclear power field.
