| This translation report is based on the translation practice of the book--Roads Taken in Life(chapters 3-8).It is a biographical text which mainly illustrates the hero’s attitude to life and gives some suggestions to the young people,aiming to explore how to have a positive attitude towards life.The author applies lots of metaphors in the source text,which not only makes the text active and vivid,but also stimulates readers’ imagination and arouses their reading interest.In the course of the translation,due to the language and cultural differences between Chinese and English,the translator encountered some difficulties,one of which is how to represent the effect and function of metaphor.Based on the classification of metaphor by Lakoff,Ye Zinan and other scholars,the author analyzes the translation of image metaphor and image-schematic metaphor to explore how to represent the effect of metaphor through some translation methods and techniques.Through this translation practice,the author has a further understanding of the translation of metaphor and also summarizes the corresponding translation strategies,hoping to provide some reference in terms of translation of metaphor for the other translators in the future. |
