Abstract/Summary:
In the newly revised English curriculum standards,thinking quality 、language ability、learning ability and cultural consciousness are all regarded as the key elements of English subject literacy.This means that thinking quality is no longer the main development goal of excellent students,but a kind of universal requirement for all students in the basic education stage.Critical thinking is an important part of high-order thinking and one of the important thinking qualities that middle school students need to develop.English reading is an important way to cultivate critical thinking of middle school students.For a long time,reading teaching in senior high school pays more attention to the mastery of language knowledge and the cultivation of language skills.It is relatively weak in the cultivation of students’ critical thinking ability.Based on this,the urgent problem in high school English teaching is to focus on the cultivation of students’ critical thinking ability,especially the ability of prediction、questioning、analysis and reasoning.In teaching practice,teachers should guide students to make positive predictions according to the title of the article,improving their prediction ability;be good at mining questions suitable for students to explore from reading materials,cultivating students’ ability to question.Based on schema and constructivist learning theory,the study begins with the understanding of the connotation of reading and critical thinking,and combines the strategies of critical thinking cultivation at home and abroad and its own teaching experience.The results of pre-test and post-test in control class and experimental class are analyzed by SPSS21.0.The purpose of this study is to researcher on the following questions:(1)can high school reading teaching integrated with critical thinking effectively improve students’ critical thinking ability?(2)How should teachers cultivate students’ critical thinking in high school English reading teaching?According to the experimental data compared with the control class,students in the experimental class have significantly improved their critical thinking ability after carrying out English reading teaching activities under the guidance of critical thinking for half a year.Therefore,teachers’ use of critical thinking training strategies in high school English reading classes is conducive to changing learners’ single thinking mode and improving students’ critical thinking ability,such as prediction 、 questioning 、analysis 、reasoning and evaluation.After research and analysis,the study shows that critical thinking training can improve students’ critical thinking ability to some extent,but there are still many shortcomings and problems,which need to be explored and analyzed in the future.
