| Vocabulary is a fundamental element of language learning,and it is a fundamental unit of sentences and pages,as well as of writing.Without vocabulary,language is like "a tree without a root and water without a source".Therefore,vocabulary learning is very important for English learning.According to the implementation suggestions of the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2011 Edition),teachers should use appropriate teaching methods in the classroom,taking into account the characteristics of students,so that students can actively participate in classroom activities and acquire knowledge in a relaxed and pleasant environment,so that they will not be bored when learning and will have a love for learning English.Elementary school students are lively and interesting,they are very active in the classroom,and it is difficult to maintain their attention for a certain period of time.In addition,the vocabulary classroom is boring for elementary school students,so how to make elementary school students interested in learning English,so that they always keep their attention in the classroom and learn with a love for English is an important problem for teachers in teaching English vocabulary in elementary school.The whole-body response(TPR)method is a teaching method that links language and behavior together.Teaching foreign language through body movement responses,pictures,and objects can make students interested in learning vocabulary and let them acquire knowledge in a happy way.First of all,this paper expounds the reasons for the topic selection of this study,and summarizes the relevant research on the whole body reaction(TPR)teaching method and primary school English vocabulary teaching at home and abroad,so as to further clarify the purpose and significance of the research,as well as the main research ideas and methods,so as to complete the initial step of this study and prepare for it.Secondly,on the basis of previous studies,this paper first clarifies the relevant overview and characteristics of TPR teaching method in primary school English vocabulary teaching,and then analyzes the value of TPR teaching method in primary school English vocabulary teaching from multiple perspectives,combined with the theoretical basis of TPR teaching method to pave the way for the future investigation and research.Thirdly,this study divided five dimensions to design the questionnaire,namely,basic knowledge,application principle,application method,application effect,and condition guarantee.Based on this,the author prepared the questionnaire "The application of whole body response method(TPR teaching method)in elementary school English vocabulary teaching" and selected elementary school English teachers as the respondents to carry out the survey,a total of 580 electronic questionnaires were distributed and collected,excluding 22 invalid questionnaires that were not logically self-consistent,a total of 558 valid questionnaires,with an effective rate of 96.2%.Through the implementation of questionnaires and interviews as a supplemental survey,the author also compiled an interview outline of the current situation of the application of the whole-body response method(TPR method)in primary English vocabulary teaching to understand the current situation of the application of the TPR method in primary English vocabulary teaching.The survey and analysis show that teachers still have some problems: biased basic knowledge,vague application principles,unscientific application methods,unsatisfactory application effects,and inadequate conditions.We analyzed the causes of these problems one by one and summarized them into two main reasons: teachers’ own and external conditions.Finally,based on the analysis of the problems and causes,this paper puts forward the strategy construction of TPR teaching method in primary school English vocabulary teaching.Based on previous studies,the researcher proposes some countermeasures from two aspects,namely teachers themselves: changing the concept of teaching English vocabulary in elementary school,strengthening the theoretical study of TPR teaching method,and optimizing the application method of TPR teaching method.;schools: strengthen the construction of teachers,attach importance to professional guidance,improve the security mechanism.The purpose of this study is to provide some teaching enlightenment for primary school English teachers when teaching vocabulary.At the same time,it is hoped that the education department can strengthen the training of TPR teaching methods for primary school English teachers,and make contributions to the realization of more effective application of the whole body response method in primary school English vocabulary classroom. |
