| Wang Dong spent his life wandering between politics and literature, and takes Ci as his destiny. He once said: “the ambition of life is to fill the Ci——if the Ci can be understood and valued by later generations, then my Ci are not written in vain…” Due to the sense of historical mission of “to be understood by later generations”,Wang Dong has carefully preserved all the Ci works in his life and arranged them in chronological order, integrating “Meng Qiu Ci”in an orderly way.The Ci he wrote during the Republic of China include “Meng Qiu Ci”that they were more than 400 poems written in Volumes 1 to 8,with many Ci forms, diverse styles and high levels.Scholars pay more attention to Wang Dong’s Ci study with other literati. There is less research on his philological theories and Ci.Facing the shortcomings in Wang Dong’s research,on the basis of discussing Wang Dong’s Ci poetry experience, this paper sorts out his Ci learning, and focuses on the content and artistic style of Ci writing during the period of the Republic of China,in order to evaluate his Ci’s achievements, and to examine his achievements in Ci history of the Republic of China’s status and influence. The text is divided into five chapters:The introduction part summarizes the background of the existence of Ci in the Republic of China and the current situation of Wang Dong’s Ci,and puts forward the significance and research methods of this paper. The second chapter discusses Wang Dong’s life and his experience of Ci learning in the period of the Republic of China.Wang Dong’s life can be roughly divided into five periods: the period of young people’s diligence for learning, the period of young people’s devotion to revolution, the period of being absorbed in teaching, the period of middle-aged living in Chongqing, and the period of returning to his hometown in his later years.Wang Dong had a lot of contacts with scholars and scholars at that time.Only from the existing records of “Meng Qiu Ci”,he had in-depth contacts with famous scholars at that time, such as Huang Kan,Shen Yinmo,Shen Zufen,Zhang Shizhao,Chen Feishi, etc. They had a profound relationship. The two-way communication of spirit and Ci art had a profound impact on Wang Dong’s creation and CI Circles at that time.It is expected that Wang Dong’s value and significance in the poetry community of the Republic of China can be highlighted through the textual research on Wang Dong’s Ci study with other literati. The third chapter discusses the origin and theory of Wang Dong’s Ci.In the origin of CI studies,Wang Dong imitated Zhou Bangyan, and unlike most poets is in the Republic of China——they started from Wu Wenying and then learned from Zhou Bangyan.Wang Dong started to learn Zhou Bangyan and said,"it’s like a day for decades to learn Zhou Bangyan".His Ci inherits the structure of Zhou Bangyan Ci’s organization and diction.Looking at Wang Dong’s Ci,we can see that his Ci learned a lot of famous scholars, not specifically Zhou Bangyan. Before the Anti Japanese War,Wang Dong advocated that scholars should learn more from Xin Qiji,Wen Tianxiang, etc.,which showed a different trend from that of the people at that time. This concept of Ci had a direct impact on Shen Zufen’s Ci creation. In the theory of Ci,Wang Dong attached great importance to "the origin of Ci","the system of Ci".,“the rhyme of Ci”,“the emotion of Ci”,which is quite original in the study of Ci style and theoretical criticism. The fourth chapter discusses Wang Dong’s Ci creation in the period of the Republic of China and the content characteristics of Ci.Wang Dong Ci has a wide range of subjects, mainly including current events, homesickness, friendship, love and painting. In terms of time, the Ci written in the period of the Republic of China has a span of 37 years, throughout the history of the Republic of China. In space,it records the experiences of Wu Qian as an official when he was young, working in Nanjing Central University, living in Chongqing, returning to the East.It is almost a clear autobiography of Ci style. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War,the Ci writers were extremely sensitive in his hearts. He had to live in other places and were bound by the Confucian sense of mission of "helping the world at the same time",which made him suffer a lot. They suffered from more sober spiritual pain and more profound inner torture than ordinary people. In the face of the current situation of broken state and haggard people’s livelihood,Wang Dong wrote history with Ci and made the voice of the times. The fifth chapter discusses the artistic characteristics and the style of Wang Dong’s Ci.Wang Dong’s Ci is rich in intonation, and pays attention to the correspondence between the sentiment and the tone;likes to use allusions, and is good at using predecessors’ poems to achieve the effect of "expressing broad emotions in small Ci".The style of his Ci works is divided into two periods: the first period is bleak and sad,sad and lingering, mostly expressing personal feelings;in the later period is facing with the difficult situation of the country and the people, his Ci were more puffed and puffed and depressed. The overall style has changed from ego to national pain. |
