Abstract/Summary:
Known as the "color magician",Bonnard was influenced by the Japanese Ukiyo-e,impressionism and symbolism in the development of his art,for example,the plane and decorative expression of Japanese Ukiyo-e,the scientific treatment of light and color by impressionism,and the application of emotional color by symbolism.In the complex and changeable artistic atmosphere,through constant exploration and innovation,Bonnard formed his own color language with emotional power,which was not bound by objective colors and pursued inner feelings.He emphasized the subjective use of colors,paid attention to the decorative effect of the plane and the expression of symbolic meaning,and exerted the harmony,contrast,musicality and mystery of colors to the maximum.Bonnard’s paintings emphasized the use of color to express emotion.And the expression of color was connected with the living environment.The creation of different themes in the same period also had different expressions of emotional color.In this paper,the color composition as a visual and analytical method to Bonnard’s painting color combing,in the early stage,mild and calm neighboring colors were used to generate contrast;in the middle stage,the use of complementary colors activated the sense of color rhythm;in the late stage,complementary colors with high purity were used to create intense color rhythm.He expressed his ideas and spiritual world through symbols,metaphors and decorative colors.This paper mainly did the discussion from four chapters.The first chapter discussed the origin of the formation of Bonnard’s painting style through book induction and analysis.The second chapter analyzed the color characteristics of Bonnard’s paintings.He pursued color plane and decoration,and combined the objectivity of vision with the subjectivity of illusion.The third chapter,as the focus of this paper,analyzed the composition of color in Bonnard’s paintings through three series,"indoor series","bathing woman series" and "pastoral scenery".And then,this chapter analyzed the composition of color from three different periods of emotional expression in his early,middle and late period.The fourth chapter discussed the influence of Bonnard’s paintings,such as the promotion of western modernist paintings,the touch of Chinese modern and contemporary paintings and the influence of my own creations.Through examples,the influence of Bonnard’s paintings was illustrated.The first and second chapters of this paper paved the way for the study of color composition in Bonnard’s paintings.In the third chapter,the composition of color was explored through image decomposition combined with color ideographic method,and the viewpoints with research value were obtained through exploration.
