With the development of social economy,both of peoples' living standards and paces have been prompted and fastened thus making social competitions become increasingly fierce.As a result,depression has become a common issue in present society.Depression is a psychological state with continuously unhappy mood that has negative influences on human's daily life like study and work.Obviously,people will confronted with psychological problems if they are depressed for a long time.Povertystricken college students,as a particular group,deserve people's attention because they face with various types of pressure.Focusing on the poverty-stricken college students,the study chooses the two variables-psychological capital and coping style,which relate to the depression closely to interpret researching situations and relationships among them.Besides,group counseling is used to intervene with the students.The study concentrates on the poverty-stricken college students consisting two researching parts.First,the study uses Positive Psychological Questionnaire(PPQ),Coping Style Questionnaire(CSQ)and Self-rating Depression Scale(SDS)to test 920 poverty-stricken students in Yunnan Normal University in order to understand how demographic variables exert impacts on students and relations among themselves.The variables include psychological capital,copying style,actual depressive situation,scores,gender,ethnicity,origin of students,whether(s)he is being the only child in the families,their parents' marital situations,family atmosphere and grades of their own.Second,the research tests 40 students of the Yunnan Normal University by utilizing methods of experimental design.The 40 students are randomly divided into two groups,that is,comparison group and experimental group with 20 students in each.For the comparison group,there is no any intervention has been put to them while the experimental one has been tested once a week with 12 times intervention of group counseling in total.By increasing the psychological capital and improving the coping style of the experimental group,to reduce their depression.After the intervention,the scale in the first research will be used to the post-test on both of the two groups in order to evaluate effects of the intervention.The main conclusions are as follows:(1)Generally,the psychological capital level of the poverty-stricken college students is quite good.They can deal with depression in a relatively mature way.But there is 18.51% of the students shows various degrees of the depression.And psychological capital,copying style and depression itself are partly affected by the demographic variables,such as grade,family atmosphere and academic performance.(2)There is an obvious relationship among psychological capital,copying style and depression.(3)The copying style plays an intermediate role in connecting the students' psychological capital and levels of depression.(4)In the experimental group,the improvement of psychological capital and various dimensions and mature coping style factors was significantly higher than that in the control group,and the reduction of immature coping style,mixed coping style factor,and depression was significantly higher than that in the control group.(5)Group counseling intervention can effectively improve the psychological capital and coping style of the subjects,so as to reduce their depression.
