The Creation Characteristics And Performance Analysis Of Yangqin’s Mulan CI Variation

Variation on the Mulan Ballad,a dulcimer solo,is based on the story that Mulan took her father’s place on the battlefield.The whole music work is rich in emotion.With regard to creative features,this variation adopts the combination of Chinese and Western musical structure,distinctive mode and tonality,various texture forms,and changeable beats and rhythms.In order to express the music theme more vividly,this variation utilizes the traditional playing techniques of northeast dulcimer,such as Chanzhu and Yinrou,and the modern dulcimer techniques,to show the diversity of dulcimer performance styles and to depict the music image of Mulan vividly.This paper analyzes the creative features and playing techniques of this dulcimer work in detail to illustrate the connotation of the music.
