A Practice Report From The Perspective Of Interpreter’s Subjectivity

In recent years,theme parks,such as Disney and Universal Studio,and Ocean Flower Island,are flourishing around the world.Most of the riding facilities and equipment are made and installed by overseas companies and individuals.This thesis is a practice report based on liaison interpreting at the on-site workplace at Universal Beijing.There are many groups of people from different countries,choreographers,engineers,directors as well as project managers working here.This thesis mainly analyzes the author’s interpreting practice from the perspective of the interpreter’s subjectivity,highlights the importance of the interpreter’s subjectivity in practical interpreting,and analyzes specific cases under the guidance of the interpreter’s subjectivity theory.The application of the subjectivity of the interpreter highlights the practicality and effectiveness of the subjectivity of the interpreter.The author assumes that the interpreter has the responsibility to use his subjectivity and creativity to unleash the potential of himself or herself,a move that can help the communication succeed and the two sides could understand each other in a quicker and better way.That’s also where the value of the interpreter lies.In the actual interpreting process,there are many times when interpreters are required to participate in the communication process to solve problems together,rather than pure language transmission.Interpreters need to participate in interpreting practice with purpose and consciously.The speaker will have problems such as unclear semantics and repetition,thus interpreters need to actively choose the interpreting methods,show their own subjectivity,and solve practical problems.From the perspective of the interpreter’s subjectivity,interpreters should use their subjectivity to choose different interpreting methods to make the interpreting easier to understand.Like omission,addition,and reconstruction,all these methods reflect the subjectivity of the interpreter.
