Tone sandhi has always been one of the important factors affecting the pronunciation of Chinese learners and causing "foreign accent".Even high-level learners will also have various problems in tone sandhi. When teaching high-level Korean international students,I found that although they have some understanding of the rules of tone sandhi,it is often difficult to make good use of the learned rules in actual pronunciation.A prominent problem is that when the tone environment changes, the tone sandhi produced by students will also change, although they should actually use the same kind of tone sandhi. And when this change exceeds a certain limit,it will directly lead to the formation of errors. The influence of this kind of tone co-articulation effect on tone sandhi has not received much attention in related research, and there are no targeted measures in the existing teaching and training. In order to clarify the problems of students in tone sandhi and the specific impact caused by the tone co-articulation effect, this paper uses the recording analysis method to conduct a comprehensive and detailed exploration of the errors of high-level Korean international students in tone sandhi. On this basis,it analyzes the causes from multiple angles and provides targeted teaching suggestions,in order to effectively help students to better acquire tone sandhi as well as improve the corresponding teaching methods. The research objects are 7 Korean international students in senior two of the International Department of Beijing Huiwen Middle School, and their Chinese level is HSK5 or 6.The research materials include monosyllabic group, disyllabic group and trisyllabic group,so as to investigate the situation of all tone sandhi types in various tone environments. The research methods of this paper mainly include speech experiment method, statistical analysis method, comparative analysis method and error analysis method. The main steps of the research are to statistically analyze the fundamental frequency data, duration data and Tvalue data obtained through recording, and draw corresponding charts,so as to understand the specific performance and error types of sandhi of "yi,bu" and falling-rising tone. Finally, the study found that all kinds of students’ tone sandhi have problems in tonal shape and tone range, among them, the falling-rising tone sandhi is the most serious. In addition, there are also errors in tone length of the"yi,bu" tone sandhi. The tone co-articulation effect has indeed become one of the incentives for tone sandhi errors. It affects the beginning or end of the tone, and then spreads to the whole tone pattern, causing errors in the tonal shape and tone range. And the influence of the anterograde effect is more significant than the reverse effect. In addition, the causes of errors also include the negative transfer of mother tongue, the generalization of target language rules, learners’ motivation and learning attitude, the complexity of tone sandhi itself and various deficiencies in teaching. In this regard, the suggestions put forward in this paper include:paying more attention to tone co-articulation effect and improving relevant training methods;increasing teachers and students’ emphasis on tone sandhi and helping students establish the awareness of tone sandhi;overcoming the interference of mother tongue and adjusting learning strategies;enriching teaching means and using audio software to assist teaching. |
