Primary school students’ main way of interpersonal communication is peer communication,which can promote individual socialization and social adaptation,which is highly valued by Chinese scholars.The key stage for individual to develop peer relationship is primary school,and pupils will choose peers according to their own preferences.Good peer relationship is beneficial to students’ self-worth,social ability and physical and mental health.At present,there are many problems in peer communication among primary school students.It is necessary to guide and promote the development of peer relationship among primary school students so as to make it develop in a healthy direction.Painting therapy,as a special counseling method,provides a comfortable,safe and driving environment for group members,who can reduce the defense mechanism,freely complete the theme painting,release the inner feelings,harvest and perception,and promote growth and change.The purpose of this study is to explore the intervention effect of painting therapy on improving primary school students’ peer relationship,and to provide practical and effective painting intervention program.In this study,the peer Relationship scale was used to measure the peer relationship of 450 grade 4-6 students in S Primary School,and the results showed that the peer relationship was in good condition.There is no difference in peer relationship between primary school pupils,such as whether they are only child or not,gender or grade,but there are differences in whether they are class leaders or not and where they come from.27% of the students in the two groups were selected on the basis of the peer inferiority scale,and 27% of the students in the two groups were in the identical group on the footing of the peer inferiority scale.The experimental group was intervened with theme group painting for 9 times.Weekly thematic doings are limited to 90 minutes,while the control group was free to draw without theme restriction for 9times.The activity design of painting therapy scheme is based on the theory of emotional infection,group dynamics and interpersonal interaction.After the intervention of painting therapy,the post-test of the experimental group and the control group were analyzed and compared.The results showed that there was significant difference in pre-and post-test peer fellowship in the testing panel(p<0.01).Through the intervention of painting,the post-test level were higher than those before the action.There was no notable distinction in pre-and post-test in the control group(p>0.05).There was notable distinction in peer relations between the testing set and the control set(p<0.05),indicating that the painting intervention was effective and significantly improved the level of peer relations of pupils.
