| The Intercultural Workshop for Chinese and Foreign Managers is an annual conference held from time to time by the company’s EC department where the author did his internship to promote cooperation and exchange between Chinese and foreign parties.On 28 August 2021,the Intercultural Workshop for Chinese and Foreign Managers organised by the author’s department was held in Changchun.The company’s Vice President of Technology,Planning Director led 28 Chinese and foreign managers and experts to attend the event.The task was conducted as consecutive interpretation,and after the workshop,the interpreter listened to the recorded material repeatedly and transcribed it into text for reflection.The report takes the intercultural seminar for Chinese and foreign managers as the material for analysis,and uses the Gill’s cognitive load model as the basis.It identifies the problems in this practice in terms of listening comprehension,short-term memory,note-taking and reading,verbal output and coordination,and critically and dialectically analyses the causes(e.g.intra-and extra-linguistic knowledge,note-taking and reading skills need to be strengthened,and interpretation tasks are overloaded)and proposes solutions from the perspective of effort allocation(e.g.bilingualism,systematic training of note-taking,psychological enhancement,etc.).The interpreter combines Gill’s effort allocation model with specific interpreting cases,providing a theoretical basis for the choice of interpreting strategies.Through this thesis,the author hopes to provide reference for interpreting learners,to find more appropriate training methods,to coordinate effort allocation more rationally and systematically in practical cases,to meet client expectations,and to achieve the interpreter’s ideal results as far as possible. |
