This report is on the basis of Chinese-English(C-E)Consecutive Interpreting(CI)practice for 2018 IT Leadership Summit, guided by Gile's Effort Model, analyzing the reasons that caused imbalance effort distribution as well as putting forward some practical strategies through some typical mistakes during the consecutive interpreting. After reflecting the whole interpreting process and analyzing the transcript afterwords, the author figures out three factors causing mistakes in interpretation, inadequate preparation before interpreting, tense atmosphere and inadequate effort distribution. This report mainly makes a description of the reasons for the imbalance in energy distribution and the countermeasures.Gile once put forward Effort Model in his own book Basic Concepts and Models for Interpreter and Translator Training. In this report, the author applies Gile's Effort Model to this consecutive interpreting and lists some typical examples in ways that analyze the reasons causing the author's imbalanced effort allocation in the process. These factors include: inadequate linguistic and extra-linguistic knowledge, insufficient background knowledge and processing capacity. The practice report tries to put forward some practical methods in addressing problems in each phase of interpreting. For instance, the interpreter is required to make an improvement in linguistic and extra-linguistic knowledge in the process of listening and analyzing the source language. In terms of memory, the interpreter needs to be capable of making full use of the note-taking methods and mind memorizing the information.Meanwhile some strategies like omission and syntactic linearity can be used to enhance production capacity and improve the CI quality. From this practice, the author realizes the great importance of pre-interpreting preparation, such as the preparation for vocabularies and background knowledge related to this field,in order to ensure that the interpreting task can be accomplished smoothly. After completing the interpreting task, the author summarizes some typical problems encountered during the interpreting, hoping to be references for future interpreters.
