| The paper is based on an interpreting practice for a “Symposium on English Education for All-round Development in Primary and Secondary Schools” which was held in Shijiazhuang in September 2021.The author conducted consecutive interpreting of speeches by Chinese and foreign teachers and the questions from parents at Chunhui Education Institution.After the meeting,the author reviewed this interpretation concerning the transcribed text of the audio recording and then completed this report.Because the author formerly worked in this institution,she offered a free service.Although the interpreting service was acknowledged and applauded by participants,the author has discovered certain challenges during the interpreting and problems after a thorough reexamination.The report primarily examines three problems in the interpreting process:semantic redundancy,logical disorder,and repetition of coordinating conjunctions.In view of of Gile’s Effort Model,three rules of discourse transformation that proposed by Professor Wang Kefei,namely deletion,construction,and generalization,are sufficient solutions to the problems and ideal pathways to a promising interpreting career.The practice also enables the author to recognize that her interpreting competence is insufficient,and the completion of the report boosts the author’s confidence in future interpreting practice,as well as provides recommendations on how to enhance interpreter’s self-learning abilities and training methods. |
