| This is a practice report on escort interpreting in Jaruud Uligeer Museum.American foreign teacher comes to the author’s hometown,so the author as an escort interpreter takes him to the Uligeer Museum.The Uligeer Museum is the first Uligeer art cultural museum in China,even in the world.Therefore,the museum has great value to visit and get knowledge of Inner Mongolian culture.The interpreter records the interpreting practice which lasts about one hour and fifty-eight minutes and transcribes it into a text and then accordingly completes this practice report.There are four chapters includes in the report.Chapter one introduces the task background,the purpose of the task,features of the task,and gives the structure of the report.Chapter two describes the pre-interpreting stage,the interpreting stage,and the post-interpreting stage.Chapter three describes the case analysis,which is the main body of the report.This chapter focuses on the difficulties in the interpreting process and interpretation techniques uses in the interpreting process.For example,the author uses interpretation techniques of transliteration plus explanation,explanation,free translation,and literal translation to cope with culture-loaded words;the interpreter uses division and restructuring to cope with long sentences.The flexible use of interpretation techniques will greatly increase the acceptance of the target audience.Chapter four is an overall review of the whole report illustrating the findings of the report as well as expectations and suggestions.In the process of collecting reports and data,the author found there were few references on how to translate the Mongolian culture of Uligeer into English.Therefore,the author expects this report can provide reference to Mongolian Uligeer culture of Chinese to English translation. |
