Our country can only thrive if our culture thrives,and our nation can only be strong if our culture is strong." As a critical part of Chinese culture,folk culture encompasses the distinct regional cultural features seen throughout the country.The folk culture inheritance not only enriches people’s psychological worlds and increases their cultural awareness in modern societies,but also guides the country down the path of culture confidence,which is necessary for the development of a great socialist culture in China.With the advent of the new media period,people began to favor emerging media with rapid information transmission over old media with relatively slow transmission,giving an opportunity to further promote folk culture.As a result of the new media era’s quick development,Motion Graphic（MG）visualizes numerous aspects through animation,accurately expressing the topic.Furthermore,it is perfectly suited to the present communication environment due to its time-saving,effective information transmission,entertainment,adaptability,and lower production cost qualities.This article claims that works on folk culture in the form of MG animation provide a new study perspective,as well as a new production form and direction for folk culture transmission.This article discusses the distinctive expression forms of MG animation and its communication advantages in the new media environment.It also covers the composition characteristics and design methodologies of MG animation from an image element synthesis perspective.In combination with its own graduation works,this paper discusses several principles that should be considered when designing the content for MG animations with a folk culture theme,as well as how to design the content in such a way that the MG animations become more expressive and attractive,thereby allowing a wider audience to acquire relevant folk culture knowledge.
