Research On The Coastal Defense Of Fujian And Taiwan During The Qian-jia Period

Fujian is located on the southeast coast of China,with a long and tortuous coastline,a vast sea area and numerous harbors.Taiwan is the largest island in China,separated from Fujian by the Taiwan Strait in the west.The close cultural and geographical ties between Fujian and Taiwan determine the integration of cross-strait Coastal Defense.The Qian-Jia Period of the Qing Dynasty were a period of time that linked the previous and the next.They not only inherited the Coastal Defense construction accumulated from the Shunzhi to the Yongzheng period in the Qing Dynasty,but also influenced the construction of the modern navy after Daoguang.The Fujian naval forces in the Qian-Jia Period played an important role in combating pirates and dealing with the situation on Taiwan Island.Exploring the whole process of the development of Coastal Defense between Fujian and Taiwan during this period will help to get a glimpse of the whole picture of the Coastal Defense in the Qing Dynasty,understand the changes of Coastal Defense situation in the Qing Dynasty and the tortuous process of the transformation of Coastal Defense construction to modernization;at the same time,we can also discuss the impact of Coastal Defense construction on social development,and provide some reference for the construction of a modern "Maritime Power Strategy".This article refers to documents such as memorials,local chronicles,and celebrity biographies of the Qian-jia Period.Uses analytical and comparative methods on the basis of contemporary researches,discusses the Coastal Defense construction on both sides of Fujian and Taiwan during the Qian-Jia Period.It demonstrates the important role of Coastal Defense in this period,provides reference for “Modern Marine Construction”.The full text is divided into three chapters,mainly from the background and development process of Coastal Defense construction between Fujian and Taiwan,the situation and the influence of Coastal Defense between Fujian and Taiwan during the Qian-jia Period.The first chapter mainly discusses the background and development process of Coastal Defense construction in Fujian and Taiwan in the Qing Dynasty.And discusses the political premise,economic foundation and material guarantee of Coastal Defense construction in Fujian and Taiwan,as well as the required armed force guarantee and the situation of Coastal Defense construction.From the development process of Coastal Defense between Fujian and Taiwan in the Qing Dynasty,although it can be divided into three periods,the early Qing Dynasty was only the foundation laying time,and the Qian-Jia Period was the key period of improvement and strengthening.The second chapter focuses on many aspects and situation analysis of the Coastal Defense construction between Fujian and Taiwan in Qian-Jia Period.First,from the perspective of the Qian-Jia Period court and opposition on Fujian and Taiwan’s Coastal Defense,the integration of Fujian and Taiwan’s Coastal Defense and its importance;then starting with the Coastal Defense facilities and naval construction in Qian-jia Period between Fujian and Taiwan.It focus on the important of weapons,the allocation of warships,the construction of early military ports,the establishment and training of the Green Camp Navy and the Eight Banners Navy.Finally,from the major maritime narratives such as the Qian-jia Period Navy’s suppression of pirates and bandits along the coast,it shows in the Qian-jia Period,Fujian and Taiwan’s Coastal Defense in safeguarding maritime security and defending maritime sovereignty important role.The third chapter is based on the discussion on the integration and importance of Fujian and Taiwan’s Coastal Defense during the Qian-Jia Period,as well as the discussion on the Coastal Defense construction of Fujian and Taiwan.Mainly from the political and economic aspects,this paper summarizes the role and influence of Coastal Defense construction between Fujian and Taiwan in the Qian-Jia Period.On the one hand,the construction of Coastal Defense maintains the stability of the sea and borders,on the other hand,it promotes economic development.
