| During the Ming and Qing Dynasties,Japanese pirates invaded and plundered the southeast coastal areas repeatedly. In addition to the military defense and actions of the government army, many earthen forts were built in the name of the native clan community as self-defense facilities.Characterized by obvious blood and geographical characteristics, this kind of building features unique cultural relics value. The earthen fort is built with stone walls in the original place of residence, which makes the earthen fort have the dual nature of coastal defense heritage and local heritage. As an important part of the heritage of folk coastal defense heritage, the study of earthen forts can enrich the heritage structure of maritime defense heritage and provide reference for the conservation of other folk coastal defense settlements heritage. This paper takes Yutang Fort in Fuding as a case, analyzes the cultural heritage value of Yutang Fort by examining folk literature and field interviews, and proposes some countermeasures and suggestions to deal with its current situation and problems of its preservation. This paper is divided into three parts altogether: The first part combs the history and present situation of the earthen fort in Fuding area, and analyzes the background, distribution and preservation status of the earthen fort.It is concluded that the number of existing earth forts in the Fuding area is large, but the protection is not comprehensive and the major earth forts are not considered as heritage types. In the second part, the development history of the main body of Yutang Fort is sorted out.In addition, based on the field research, its remains are divided into tangible and intangible cultural heritage according to the characteristics of coastal defense settlements heritage, and the tangible cultural heritage in Yutang Fort is subdivided into three categories: the remains of the main defense project, the remains of buildings related to the main settlement, and the related historical monuments.Through the value analysis on the remains of Yutang Fort,it is concluded that the core value of Yutang Fort lies in its military nature as an earthen fort for coastal defense, and the extension value lies in its local nature as a settlement of villagers. The third part of the study points out the difficulties faced by the Yutang Fort, provides suggestions and make a modest contribution to the preservation and utilization of the folk coastal defense heritage combined with the previous research. |
