The translated text is extracted from the official website of the World Trade Organization(WTO)(https://www.wto.org),a survey report of Women and Trade: The Role of Trade in Promoting Gender Equality. The original text is in English, and the translator chooses Chapter III of the report, policies for women to benefit from trade,to translate and discuss the difficulties encountered in the translation process. In view of these problems, the translator tries to solve them by applying corresponding translation methods, skills and techniques under the guidance of the translation theory. The combination of theory and practice is achieved. This report mainly consists of five chapters, including introduction, literature review, theoretical foundation, case analysis and conclusion. The introduction chapter introduces the background and content of the trade report, and the purpose and significance of translation study. The literature review chapter reviews translation research on economic trade text and economic terms, and previous studies with functional equivalence theory. The theoretical foundation chapter introduces Nida’s functional equivalence theory and its feasibility to guide this translation practice. In the case analysis, the translator selects more typical vocabulary translation cases, and makes a reasonable demonstration for the difficulties of vocabulary translation under the guidance of functional equivalence theory. To begin with, the paper analyzes the translation of proper nouns and puts forward the translation principles of convention and transliteration. Then, aiming at the professional terms, translation means are proposed by the translator based on professional dictionary, parallel text and gender perspective.Next, simple words are not simple.According to this phenomenon, the translation skills of extension, mixture and supplement are adopted. Finally,in order to solve the problem of the same word in different collocations and contexts, the collocation-based and context-based translation methods are constructed to achieve functional equivalence at lexical level. The conclusion chapter summarizes the gains and shortcomings in translation activities. In this translation practice, the translator has carried out translation practice activities under the guidance of functional equivalence theory at the lexical level for trade report texts, solved the difficulties of vocabulary translation in source text, achieved functional equivalence at the lexical level, and provided suggestions and experience for the translation of trade report texts.
